South India: Lisa Friend’s Trip Report

This event was recorded on July 27, 2026.

India delivers an intoxicating mix of old-as-time traditions and modern life that will enchant and humble any Western traveler. Back from a tour through the country's southernmost corner, MNT host Lisa Friend is eager to share her highlights: creating block print fabrics in Bengaluru (India's Silicon Valley), roaming the glittering palaces of Mysore, and staying overnight in a houseboat on the palm-lined canals of Kerala. Along the way, we meet a menagerie of animals (cows, elephants, and tigers!), explore fragrant spice markets, and sample sizzling street food.
