October 19: Beyond the Best of Ireland with Pat O’Connor

Ireland — an ever-popular destination — tempts travelers with legendary castles, charming towns, music-filled pubs, and seaside getaways. But undiscovered corners persist, and guidebook author Pat O'Connor whisks us away on a whirlwind tour of Ireland's hidden highlights. We sail to Great Blasket Island to get acquainted with one of Ireland's most traditional communities, hike an Edwardian-era trail carved into ocean cliffs, and opt for the scenic route on the winding Wild Atlantic Way. Plus, Pat teaches wannabe royals how to stay in an Irish castle without breaking the bank!

October 26: Travel Horror Stories with Rick Steves’ Europe Staff

On this spooky edition of Monday Night Travel, the gang shares their horror stories from the road…and the hard-earned travel skills they learned along the way. Lisa lost her husband on a vaporetto ride in Venice (they found each other, but not before tears were shed). Gabe spent a bleary four out of five nights on trains, ping-ponging between Nice, Paris, Barcelona, Paris (again!), and Venice. Emily mistakenly booked a co-ed hostel dorm on a solo backpacking trip. And Ben narrowly escaped St. Petersburg when Russia invaded Ukraine. Along the way, we hear frightening travel tales from other RSE staffers and our travelers. Boo!

October 27 (Tuesday): The Traveler & The Bishop: American Democracy & Christian Nationalism

Join Rick Steves for a European take on Trump and the state of American democracy. Then, Lutheran Bishop Shelley Bryan Wee (ELCA) will share a hard look (inspired by scripture) at the perversion of Christianity called "Christian Nationalism." Rick’s talk will share how history is speaking to us — and how, if we listen, we can better understand and meet the challenges facing democracy in the USA. And, whether you consider yourself a person of faith or not, Bishop Shelley’s message will bring a new dimension to your thinking about the place of religion in the political discourse of our country.

November 2: Midterms Eve Special: The Political View from Europe

Join RSE travel writers Cameron Hewitt and Travis Parker for this "Travel as a Political Act" conversation on the night before the midterms. After months of 24/7 attack ads and fundraising texts, we'll take a break from American politics and turn our lens to Europe — where 2026 has been filled with important elections too. From immigration to affordability to rising far-right movements, Europe is wrestling with many of the same big questions…and coming up with some creative solutions. We hope you'll be inspired to cast your vote as a more informed global citizen.

Rotterdam with Yoreh Schipper

Rotterdam is synonymous with bold urban design. Today, the city's skyline of gleaming high-rises soars like a phoenix from the ashes of a difficult history, and tour guide Yoreh Schipper joins us to tell the city's inspiring story. We consider Rotterdam's complete devastation during World War II and tour the wildly creative architecture rebuilt from the rubble — from the futuristic Market Hall to apartment complexes that aspire to science fiction. Then, we visit Hotel New York — where immigrants bound for the New World spent their last night in Europe — and round out our adventure with easy side-trips to canal-laced Schiedam and Hoek van Holland beach.
