October 5: Rick Steves' Fall 2026 Trip Report: Guatemala and El Salvador

6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET | REGISTER

Just back from an educational tour of Guatemala and El Salvador with Augsburg College, Rick reports on today’s social and political realities there while exploring magnificent Mayan sites that flourished long before Columbus “discovered” America. We meet grassroots organizations working with migrants and Indigenous communities, see how farmers are using climate-smart agriculture to cope with global warming, wander fragrant markets, cook and drink Maya-style, and spend time with local peace and human rights activists. It’s a little reality travel south of the border on Monday Night Travel.

October 12: Rotterdam with Yoreh Schipper

6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET | REGISTER

Rotterdam is synonymous with bold urban design. Today, the city's skyline of gleaming high-rises soars like a phoenix from the ashes of a difficult history, and tour guide Yoreh Schipper joins us to tell the city's inspiring story. We consider Rotterdam's complete devastation during WWII and tour the wildly creative architecture rebuilt from the rubble — from the futuristic Market Hall to apartment complexes that aspire to science fiction. Then, we visit Hotel New York — where immigrants bound for the New World spent their last night in Europe — and round out our adventure with easy side-trips to canal-laced Schiedam and Hoek van Holland beach.

October 19: Beyond the Best of Ireland with Pat O'Connor

6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET | REGISTER

Ireland –—an ever-popular destination — tempts travelers with legendary castles, charming towns, music-filled pubs, and seaside getaways. But undiscovered corners persist, and guidebook author Pat O'Connor and Monday Night Travel host Lisa Friend team up for a whirlwind tour of Ireland's hidden highlights. We sail to Great Blasket Island to get acquainted with one of Ireland's most traditional communities, hike an Edwardian-era trail carved into ocean cliffs, and opt for the scenic route on the winding Wild Atlantic Way. To round out our adventure, we gather at Lisa and Pat's favorite pubs. Sláinte!

6:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. ET | REGISTER

On this spooky edition of Monday Night Travel, the gang shares their horror stories from the road... and the hard-earned travel skills they learned along the way. Lisa lost her husband on a vaporetto ride in Venice (they found each other, but not before tears were shed). Gabe spent a bleary four out of five nights on trains, ping-ponging between Nice, Paris, Barcelona, Paris (again!), and Venice. Emily mistakenly booked a co-ed hostel dorm on a solo backpacking trip. And Ben narrowly escaped St. Petersburg when Russia invaded Ukraine. Along the way, we hear frightening travel tales from other RSE staffers and our travelers. Boo!

Video Recordings

Beyond the Best of Poland with Tomasz Klimek and Ben Green

This event was recorded on August 24, 2026.

With fairy-tale architecture, dynamic history, and enticing food and design culture, Kraków, Warsaw, and Gdańsk are (rightfully) basking in the travel spotlight. But there's more to Poland than these leading cities, and tour guide Tomasz Klimek and MNT host Ben Green team up for a whirlwind tour of undiscovered Polish delights. In the university town of Wrocław, we linger on the higgeldy-piggeldy Market Square before making for Łódź, a revitalized industrial city with a burgeoning arts scene. For our finale, alpine hiking and thermal bath soaking in the mountain resort of Zakopane. Dzięki!
