January 26: Crete with Apostolos Douras

Dubbed the birthplace of Zeus, Crete is suitably stacked with superlatives — it's the largest island in the Greek archipelago, produces the country’s finest olive oil, and boasts the most spectacular scenery anywhere in Greece. With the help of Greek guide Apostolos Douras, we dive into these distinctly Cretan delights, from a thrilling hike through the Samaria Gorge (the longest in Europe) to splashing in the bathtub-warm, crystal-clear waters of the Libyan Sea. Along the way, we plunder Crete's many treasures: a 4,000-year-old Minoan palace, Venetian harbors, and Ottoman mosques.
