Venice Entry Fee Information
Venice is currently running a pilot program that charges day-trippers a fee to enter the city. On designated days scattered throughout the height of the 2024 tourist season all visitors to Venice are required to preregister. Visitors with confirmed overnight hotel reservations are exempt from the fee but must obtain an exemption voucher (in the form of a QR code) to present to authorities upon request.
If we notified you in your final tour information email that your tour begins in Venice during (or within several days of) a period subject to entry fees, you'll need to obtain an exemption voucher. Please note that you’ll need to have access to a phone with international calling to complete your request. (It doesn’t need to be your phone or the phone you’ll travel with, just a phone you’ll use to complete the registration.)
- Go to Venice Access Fee (official website)
- Select “Go to Exemptions” and on the next page choose “I am a guest of an accommodation facility located in the municipality of Venice" and select "Request Exemption."
- Complete the form for each person in your traveling group. (Hint: You must use the calendar to enter your birthdate, first click on the month-year, then the left arrow to find your birth year. Then select your birth month and day.)
- On page 2 of the form, ignore the field with the Italian flag and, in the field to the right, enter the country code for the US (1) plus area code and phone number. Re-type the phone number and advance to the next page.
- To receive your exemption QR code, you'll have the option of using your phone or email. By email: use the email account you provided in the form, select the email option and your QR code will be emailed to you. By phone: use the phone with the number you provided in the form, call the given Italian toll-free number (dial (011) first if you’re calling from a non-European number). Your QR code will be emailed to you or you can download the QR code from the website.
- During your time in Venice, keep your QR code handy on the mobile device you'll be using on your trip.
If you don't have access to a phone with international calling, we recommend paying the €5 per day, per traveler entry fee. (The entry fee is required April 25 -May 5, and most weekends from May 11 - July 14.) To register, visit Venice Access Fee. Select “Go to Access Fee” and fill out the form. After entering your credit card information and paying the fee, you will receive a QR code voucher at the email address you provided in the form. Please keep the QR code handy during your time in Venice.
