Venice Entry Fee Information

Venice currently charges day-trippers a fee to enter the city. On designated days scattered throughout the height of the 2025 tourist season all visitors to Venice are required to preregister. Visitors with confirmed overnight hotel reservations are exempt from the fee but must obtain an exemption voucher (in the form of a QR code) to present to authorities upon request.

If we notified you in your final tour information email that your tour begins in Venice during (or within several days of) a period subject to entry fees, you'll need to obtain an exemption voucher. We recommend registering 1–2 weeks ahead of your arrival in Venice.

  1. Go to Venice Access Fee (official website)
  2. Select "Go to Exemptions" and on the next page choose "I am a guest of an accommodation facility located in the municipality of Venice" and select "Request Exemption."
  3. Enter the dates you’ll be staying in Venice for which you require an exemption voucher. (Hint: this may differ from the dates of your hotel reservation.) Please note that there is a 15-minute window to complete this form.
  4. Enter your full name, date of birth, birthplace, email address, home address, and the hotel you’ll be staying at in Venice (drop down menu). At the bottom of the form, check the first box to declare awareness of the overnight tourist tax that you’ll pay to your hotel. Then, check the second box to agree to the privacy policy (to check the box, you must first open the privacy policy by clicking the red link).
  5. Register the rest of your party for the exemption voucher. Enter the full name, birth date, and place of birth of everyone you’re traveling with.
  6. Retrieve your exemption voucher (QR code) by phone or email. By email: input the email address you provided in the form and an “OTP code” (one-time password) will be emailed to you. Retrieve the code from your inbox and enter it in the field in your browser. Click “confirm OTP code” and your exemption voucher will be emailed to you. By phone: input the phone number you’ll be calling from, click “confirm” and call the given Italian toll-free number (dial 011 first if you’re calling from a non-European number). Your QR code will be emailed to you, or you can download it from the website.
  7. During your time in Venice, keep your QR code handy on the mobile device you'll be using on your trip.
